Welcome to Newman School
Helping young people communicate, grow in independence and prepare for adulthood.
Welcome to Newman School. We are proud to provide a nurturing, inclusive and ambitious learning environment for children and young people aged 2 to 19 with special educational needs.
Every pupil who joins our school is recognised as an individual with unique strengths, aspirations and potential. Through high-quality teaching, specialist support and strong relationships, we help every learner develop the confidence, knowledge and life skills they need to thrive.
Our school community celebrates success in all its forms. We work closely with parents, carers and external professionals to ensure every child receives the opportunities, encouragement and personalised support needed to achieve meaningful outcomes both in school and beyond.
Our Curriculum
Preparation for Adulthood is at the heart of everything we do.
Our curriculum is carefully designed to provide every learner with a personalised, positive and meaningful educational journey. Underpinned by the National Curriculum and tailored to individual needs, it develops the knowledge, communication skills, independence and resilience that enable pupils to move confidently into the next stage of their lives.
From the Early Years through to Post-16, we build learning progressively, ensuring every pupil develops academically, socially and emotionally.
We believe every young person deserves the chance to discover their strengths and ambitions. Through carefully planned experiences, enrichment activities and personalised support, pupils develop confidence, resilience and the skills needed to thrive in education, employment and life.

Communication
Finding a voice. Building connections.
We support every pupil to develop meaningful ways to communicate, express their choices and build positive relationships with the people and world around them.
Independence
Building skills for life.
We create opportunities for pupils to make choices, develop practical skills and become increasingly confident and independent in their learning and everyday lives.
Resilience
Growing confidence. Embracing challenges.
We support pupils to experience new opportunities, overcome challenges and develop the confidence and resilience they need for learning, adulthood and their future.
